CHRISTIAN RESOURCES ON CREATION

This is an almost complete list of resources on my bookshelf. If I highly recommend something, I will mention it in the review and put it near the top of the list. Some of the material needed to be put under different headings. I did not take the time to classify all the material in this way.

A few of the resources were borrowed. You will probably find that many are available through Inter-Library loan. Inter-Library loan is a service whereby a local library can find your book in any other library in the country. The book is mailed to your library for you to check out. There may or may not be a fee.

The Battle for the Beginning – John MacArthur

Recommended for doctrine.

The Remarkable Record of Job – Dr. Henry M. Morris

An amazing book showing all the science revealed in the Bible’s most ancient book. Dr. Morris makes a strong case that Job was written close to the time of Abraham during the brief Ice Age that followed the Flood. Behemoth (a dinosaur) is also described in Job.

The Revelation Record – Dr. Henry M. Morris

I include this because Dr. Morris takes both Genesis and Revelation literally and from a scientist’s viewpoint and because Genesis and Revelation are closely tied.

The Defender’s Study Bible – Dr. Henry M. Morris

Dr. Morris has probably thirty years of footnotes and appendices in this useful study Bible.

Firm Foundations: Creation to Christ – Trevor McIlwain

Good Bible study methods, plus outlines you can use if you would like to teach Genesis. From New Tribes.

The First 100 Words – Dr. Charles Taylor

A detailed look at the meaning of the first 100 Hebrew words in the Bible.

The Long War Against God – Dr. Henry M. Morris

A thorough 300-page book for adults. Morris shows how Satan’s ONE deception can be traced through all the major religions, politics, philosophies, etc. and how this impacts us today. For example, he explains evolutionary thought in Buddhism, Nazism, the New Age movement, and others. He details the history surrounding the evolutionary beliefs of Aristotle, Darwin, Freud, Lyell, Marx, and others. Basically, Morris takes you from Genesis to Revelation with all of human history inbetween.

This is the first creation book I bought in the ’70s. I need to re-read it.

Christians will find information science a useful tool in discussing origins.

Dinosaurs and the Bible – David Unfred

Descriptions of historical accounts of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions help the reader understand just how incredibly devastating the Flood was.

Dinosaurs by Design – Dr. Duane T. Gish

For 3rd grade and up. Goes further in details than The Great Dinosaur Mystery, showing Flood stories from other cultures and presenting a theory that worldwide dragon stories may be from dinosaurs.

The Great Dinosaur Mystery and the Bible – Paul S. Taylor

For all school-age children. Shows God created dinosaurs and why they were probably on the ark. Also details some present-day sightings of dinosaurs.

Men of Science – Men of God – Dr. Henry M. Morris

It Couldn’t Just Happen – Lawrence Richards

A textbook format for 5th grade and up. It was out-of-print but is now in homeschool book catalogues. It explains the theory of evolution and examines its’ “proofs”. It presents strong evidence for special creation and the supernatural origin of the Bible.

Of Pandas and People – Percival Davis and Dean Kenyon

Textbook format which can also be used for upper grades.

What Really Happened to the Dinosaurs? – Dr. John Morris and Ken Ham

Very basic for the under-eight set.

Dry Bones… and other fossils – Gary E. Parker

A Question and Answer format about fossils for younger elementary.

The Lie – Ken Ham

Very readable. Exposes Satan’s lie in the Garden of Eden as still existing today in the form of Evolution…”you shall become like God”. He shows how Genesis is foundational to everything. Without this foundation, we have homosexuality, abortion, and other problems.

Creation magazine

This beautiful quarterly periodical comes from Australia. You will have the latest information on research and discoveries. Your children will love to read it, too. TJ magazine

This is the Technical Journal from Answers in Genesis for those wanting more in-depth articles. I’ve read some articles off the website, but have not subscribed.

Videos and DVDs

Someone let me borrow a three-video series by Dr. Kurt Wise that is part of Kay Arthur’s Precepts Bible studies on Genesis. I especially remember Dr. Wise’s excellent talk on the nature of God compared with the laws of physics.

Journeys to the Edge of Creation by the Moody Institute of Science

Dr. Danny Faulkner, Christian astronomer, takes us on a journey into the wonders of the Milky Way and the universe.

Unlocking the Mystery of Life

This documentary starts out with a history of the origins of the Intelligent Design movement. The computer animations of cellular processes and molecular machines are fantastic!

You can see one possible explanation of what happened during the Flood in a 5-minute Quick Time video of Dr. Walter Brown’s Hydroplate Theory at http://www.thetaxpayerschannel.org/graphics/creation/fonte23.mov. The quality of the recording is a little poor because it is taken from a videotape of a TV special from the 90’s, but it is still a very compelling theory of how the events may have occurred.
