Supermoon This Weekend

Get out your telescopes and cameras for the largest moon of 2013.  The moon be at its closest to earth (perigee) at 7 AM EDT (1100 GMT) on Sunday, June 23rd, and will also be a full moon at 7:32 AM. A supermoon is brighter and larger.  If you have a building or tree in the foreground, the optical illusion will make the moon appear even larger. (My daughter took this picture  of a full moon several years ago.) Sunrise in Orlando is 6:29 AM, so I’ll either look for the moon late on Saturday or get up early on Sunday. Find your sunrise time on this calculator. Related post on Space.com
