When I saw an article and photo of a snake with a foot, I could not help but think of this passage in Genesis 3: 14…
“So the LORD God said to the serpent, ‘Because you have done this, cursed are you above all the livestock and all the wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.
Animals with mutations like this are usually considered “freaks”. This leg isn’t an evolutionary advance; it appears to be a throw-back to an ancestral snake that DID have legs in a long-ago Garden of Eden.
Oh, and in case you wonder about “snakes eating dust,” this article offers a great analysis of the passage.
- I hope to write a creation-related post most Sundays.
