Luther on the Return of Christ

Part of a painting of Martin Luther in the Palazzo Farnesse in Rome

“God will not be able to bear this wicked world much longer, but will come, with the dreadful day, and chastise the scorners of His Word.”

This remarkable quote is from Martin Luther (1483-1546)!

Luther was asked once what he would do today if he knew for certain that Christ would return tomorrow. He answered: “I would plant a tree.”

Five centuries later, I would agree with him. Others have said, “Live as though Jesus will return soon and plan as if He won’t.”
