God as Father
“Say to them, as I live,” declares the Lord God, “I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live…” ~ Ezekiel 33:11 ESV
This verse caught my attention this morning. We know that God is our righteous Judge and also a loving Father. We trust Him that He made the truth clear to Osama bin Laden during his lifetime. (The truth that Jesus of Nazereth is Israel’s Messiah and died for bin Laden’s sins and rose again to offer eternal life to him.) Apparently, bin Laden rejected Jesus as his savior.
God as Judge
God could’ve chosen to take Osama bin Laden’s life in a natural or a supernatural way, but he chose to use human government. We learn in the Bible that government “… is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer.” (Romans 13:4 ESV)
What Happens Next
We definitely need to be in prayer. Certainly, some may want to avenge Osama bin Laden’s death. Absolutely, many millions still need to respond to God. Let’s all be prayerful and also obedient as God speaks to us about what He may have us do.
