Even Worse Than the Oil Spill

Did you happen to notice a news bite last June that Louisiana state senators unanimously called for a day of prayer to appeal to God for help to stop the oil disaster?

State senator Robert Adley said: “Thus far efforts made by mortals to try to solve the crisis have been to no avail. It is clearly time for a miracle for us.”

The Louisiana resolution appealed to people of all faiths residing on the Gulf Coast “to pray for an end to this environmental emergency, sparing us all from the destruction of both culture and livelihood.” Read more from CNN…

I know the months-long oil spill is disastrous… I live in Florida after all… however, I couldn’t help but think about verses 8 and 9 in Revelation 8: “The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood, a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.”

So, an even greater disaster is coming on the world which will kill millions of sea creatures and thousands of men. In addition, this will only be one in a series of disasters. (See all of Revelation 8).

We’ve just experienced a very tiny taste of something similar to one of the events prophesied for the coming Tribulation period. We don’t need to be worried about this coming event, though.

Even worse than this future global disaster is the sin that separates us from a holy God. Jesus promises to remove the sin-stain on our hearts and to draw us into a close relationship with Him. God simply asks us to trust Him with our lives for now and for eternity. Follow this link to find out Who Jesus really is.

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9 NLT)
